1. 17th meeting of FSDC held in New Delhi.
The seventeenth Meeting of the Financial Stability and Development Council (FSDC) held in New Delhi under the Chairmanship of the Union Minister Arun Jaitley.
The meeting was attended by RBI Governor Dr. Urjit R. Patel, SEBI chairman, IRDA Chairman along with heads and other senior officers of the Government.
A brief report on the activities undertaken by the FSDC Sub-Committee Chaired by Governor, RBI was placed before the FSDC.
2. ‘Swasth Bachche, Swasth Bharat’: HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar Launches KVS Initiative.
The Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) launched ‘Swasth Bachche, Swasth Bharat’ Programme. It was launched by Union HRD Minister Prakash Javdekar in Kochi, Kerala.
Swasth Bachche, Swasth Bharat’ Programme, an initiative of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan to prepare a physical Health and Fitness Profile Card for more than 12 lakhs of Kendriya Vidyalaya students was launched in Kochi.
A Swasth Bachche, Swasth Bharat exhibition was also held along with a display of yoga by children.
3. Karnataka Government launches clouding seeding Project Varshadhari.
Karnataka Government launched clouding seeding Project Varshadhari in Bengaluru under which an aircraft will spray chemicals to induce rainfall.
It aims to condense small water particles by clouds (size less than 10 microns) to droplets of 50 microns, which can constitute rains.
Cloud seeding (also known as weather modification technique) is an artificial way to induce moisture in the clouds so as to cause a rainfall.
4. OPS sworn in as Tamil Nadu Deputy CM.
The former chief minister is back in his home turf finance, a portfolio he had held since 2011 when the J Jayalalithaa government was sworn-in.

5. ONGC board approves HPCL takeover of 51.11 per cent stake.
The board of state-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) today gave ‘in-principle’ approval to acquire government’s 51.11 per cent stake in Hindustan Petroleum Corp Ltd.
The ONGC board at its meeting in New Delhi on Monday constituted a committee of directors to examine various aspects of the acquisition and to provide its recommendations to the board of directors.
6. Dharmendra Kumar appointed Director General of RPF.
CISF ADG Dharmendra Kumar has been appointed as director general of the Railway Protection Force.
Kumar, who is a 1984 batch IPS officer of Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram-Union Territories (AGMUT) cadre, took charge today.
After the retirement of S K Bhagat in June this year, the additional charge of DG, RPF, was being handled by National Security Guard (NSG) DG, Sudhir Pratap Singh. Kumar will retire on September 30, 2018.
